Speech by the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Andreas Christou, for the opening of the 1st International Exhibition for oil and gas technology, equipment / supplies and services, held on Wednesday 15 October, 7.30 a.m., at Carob Mill.
It is a great pleasure and true honour to welcome you to the 1st International Exhibition held in Cyprus for the oil and gas technology, equipment / supplies and services.
We would like to warmly thank and congratulate the company Zomidea Events for taking this initiative and the decision to organise this exhibition in Limassol which is undoubtedly the business and financial centre in Cyprus.
We consider this exhibition as another element contributing to the gradual transformation of the new perspective on technology, industry and economy in general which decisively turns - and should turn – to the manifold and complex, yet highly promising processes of exploitation of the hydrocarbons in the Cypriot EEZ.
I strongly believe that this creates new and enormous potential for all of us, especially for the younger generation.
Our country has a new wealth-producing resource that needs to be exploited with great professionalism and severity in the best interest of our people.
Our city, Limassol, which has developed and excelled thanks to its trade, industry and services, will always be open and welcoming to the companies and people who want to use our port, our infrastructure and our residential facilities and services, and will support all these great and universal efforts undertaken in the exploitation of the hydrocarbons.
I would like to congratulate once again the director of the organising company, Mr. Vassilis Zomenos, and I am sure that this exhibition will end in great success.
