Αddress by the Mayor of Lemesos, Mr Andreas Christou, at the 4th Limassol Economic Forum, held on Tuesday, November 26th, 2013 at 09.00 hours at Four Seasons Hotel
Ladies and Gentlemen
I, personally and on behalf of the people of Limassol and the Municipal Council, address a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests.
I congratulate In Business magazine and IMH conferences / media / exhibitions, who in cooperation with Cyprus LSE Alumni Association Cyprus and the London School of Economics, by organizing this forum give to us, the opportunity to underline the role of Cyprus and mainly Limassol, as an important maritime and business center in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Your presence today is considered to be a reaffirmation of your trust towards the business environment of Cyprus and an expression of active solidarity to businessmen, businesses and the ordinary people who are being tested at this moment. This is also a confirmation that the relationship with Cyprus and our business people is firmly grounded on long–term bonds of mutual confidence that have neither an occasional nor an opportunistic character.
Limassol, the major business centre, and all of Cyprus, remain open and welcoming to all. Despite the crisis, the comparative advantages of Cyprus are still there and continue to be based on the people, our history and traditions, as well as on the experience and knowledge gained during the past 45 years. Throughout the time, our island has gradually developed into an international business centre. It is certain, that by detecting hydrocarbon deposits the potentials of Cyprus gain a different dimension.
We wish you all the best in your deliberations and we wish good health and strength to you all.
