LIMASSOL MUNICIPALITY
INFORMATION ON APPLYING FOR A CIVIL WEDDING
NON-CYPRIOTS

Couples wishing to conduct a civil wedding in the Limassol Municipality must themselves apply to the Marriage Officer of the above Municipality for:

  • Normal wedding application.

In this case the couple must apply to the Marriage Officer for a normal wedding which will take place 15 days after the application and / or later than three months from the application.

  • Swift wedding application.

In this case the couple stipulate to the Marriage Officer the need for a swift wedding procedure. Should the Marriage Officer find this appropriate and the couple pay the corresponding fee, a date can thereupon be agreed which will be prior to the elapse of 15 days.

IF UNDER AGE

If one or both persons applying for a civil wedding are under 18 but over 16 they must present a written attestation of their parents of legal guardians.

WEDDING VENUE

Couples can have their wedding in the Limassol Municipality otherwise they must make the application and get the Form B for a church wedding.
(this refers to aliens / other religions )

DOCUMENTS TO BE PRESENTED

  1. PASSPORTS
  2. CERTIFICATE OF SINGLE STATUS FROM THEIR COUNTRY
  3. DIVORCE CERTIFICATES
  4. DEATH CERTIFICATES OF SPOUSE IF WIDOWED
  5. BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Foreigners living in Cyprus for more than a year must an affidavit at the District Court and within the same week call at the Ministry of Interior for a certification that during the period they have lived in Cyprus they have not conducted a civil wedding. 

All certificates must be translated to Greek. (PIO office, Nicosia)

FEES

  1. For a normal civil wedding is Cy pounds  75.-
  2. For a swift civil wedding the fee is Cy pounds 165.-

A True Certified Copy of the Marriage Certificate can be obtained form the Limassol Municipality or from the Ministry of Interior for a fee Cy pounds 8.-

  2. Certification  of single status  from  Ministry  Interior  (an affidavit at the District Court is also required within the same week )
  3. DIVORCE papers fully endorsed by registrar that the divorce is final
  4. Marriage and Death certificate of spouse if widowed or other relevant document proving that the mentioned person on death cert was the former spouse
  5. BIRTH CERTIFICATE
