ENTRANCES AND EXITS….A YEAR OF MAJOR MOVES…

If you are in Copenhagen August 1st at the Royal Theatre and wish to see some of the elite dancers of Europe then you will see Abby Mattox and Anna Maria Papaiacovou as well as Ioanna Melanthiou all three students and graduates of the LMDC who have been offered places for the Summer Intensive of the Royal Danish Ballet School under the direction Of Alexander Staeger who was a twice Guest performer with us here in Limassol..

Those of you who are in London July 5th and wishing to see some new fresh dancers then chances you will see Abby Mattox who was accepted within the ranks of the New English Ballet Theatrebased in London in March.  

And finally if you are escaping the heat of southern Europe and are planning a trip to Sweden then visit the School of the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm. There, you can say Hi to both Abby Mattox and Anna-Maria Papaiacovou who have been selected amongst several talented girls to spend a year training under scholarship!

Of course Cyprus is the place to be July 5th at the Rialto to see ALL the talent that Cyprus has to offer a public performance of the Limassol Municipal Dance Centre (LMDC)  in POINTES OF VIEW which will include new choreography from Samantha Moysi and Panos Malactos (who is a student of ours at Rambert School  of Ballet and Contemporary Dance) plus a short work by Israeli choreographer Barak Marshal and a very special duo of dancers from one of Europe’s most important Ballet companies to celebrate the LMDC’s 9th year with Lambros Lambrou at its’ helm.!

For the past four years, the students of the Limassol Municipal Dance Centre perform publicly along with invited guest artists from major ballet companies which in the past have included The Royal Danish Ballet and the English National Ballet. This July, soloists of the Dresden Semperoper Ballet Arika Togawa and Maximilian Genov have accepted an invitation to perform at this annual dance event. It is of major importance as is the first time that world renowned William Forsythe's masterpieceIn the Middle Somewhat Elevated duet will be performed in Cyprus. The soloist will also dance the wedding pas de deux from the ballet Coppelia.

The students which range in age from 9 to adult will dance in two new ballets by Director Lambros LambrouConcerto with music by Emerson, Lake and Palmer was originally choreographed in Canada in 1988 will feature the advanced students who train daily at the Centre.

The other ballet is choreographed to a variety of composers and the story follows the adventures of badly behaving bees, silly butterflies and various characters who work in the Municipal Gardens. This ballet is a comedy in which the young performers can reveal their considerable dancing and acting skills.

Founded in 2006 under the artistic direction of Lambros Lambrou the Municipal Dance Centre has steadily achieved national and international status. Students receive daily training in preparation for a professional career in dance. Successful students have already participated in summer schools abroad including The English National Ballet School, Arts Educational School, The Royal Ballet School and American Ballet Theatre School in Los Angeles.

This summer several of our students have received invitations to further their training at the International Summer School in Dresden under the direction of Marina Antonova dancer and teacher at the Palucca Schoolin Dresden, Germany.

 

The performance will take place on the 3rd of July.
