The Limassol Municipality in collaboration with IKEPANA GROUP will be organising an exhibition, with the theme: Carnival 2008.

The Limassol Municipality in collaboration with Theomaria Gallery will be organising an exhibition as well as a MASK workshop, with the theme “Venice-Limassol 2”

The Mayor of Limassol Andreas Christou will inaugurate both exhibitions.

12.00 (noon)  - Limassol Serenaders will be singing at Saripolou Square

6.30p.m. Town Hall
The Limassol Municipality in collaboration with the Limassol Union of Self-Educated Painters shall be organising an exhibition for the 2008 Carnival. The Mayor Andreas Christou will inaugurate the exhibition.

7.00p.m.
The King Carnival enters the town in a festive atmosphere on an illuminated float accompanied by Serenaders, the Majorettes of the Cyprus Girl Guides Association, the Mayor and the Municipal Council.
The parade will start from the Town Hall at 7.00p.m. and will pass by the following streets: Themidos, Anexartisias, Ayiou Andreou, Karaiskaki (Municipal Library), Stasinou, Andrea Drousioti.  It will end at the Heroes Square where carnival merrymaking with songs and dancing will take place.

Fireworks from the Town Hall start at 7.00p.m

8.00p.m. Serenaders’ Evening
At the Square east of the First Municipal Market

Serenaders’ Evening with participation of the following groups: Mousikes Periplanisis Choir, Ariones Choir, Epilogi Choir and Limassol Serenaders.

Saturday

1 March

11.00p.m. The Municipality’s train will be running through Anexartisias – Ayiou Andreou.

 The Youth Choir Epilogi will be on the train singing festive songs.

Starting point: Pattichion Municipal Theatre.

12.00 (noon) The Four Voice Men’s Choir will be singing at “Pantopoleio” Restaurant at the First Municipal Market

6.00p.m. Carnival Fiesta at the Main Square of Ayios Athanasios

8.30p.m. A Carnival Ball will take place at Erma’s Auction Centre on 48 Gladstonos Str. The Dreams Choir will be singing festive songs and a DJ will also ensure that the fiesta keeps on going with carnival music.

Finishing: End of Anexartisias
All groups, couples and individuals will be given participation diplomas.

6.00p.m. Serenaders’ Event at PERAMA

Gathering of Serenaders at 12, Zig Zag Street with participation of the following groups: Georgalletos Serenaders and the Monterni Kairoi Choir.

The evening is dedicated to the memory of Giorgos Georgalletos.

7.30p.m. The Group of Cypriot Serenaders sing at Ayios Andreas and Ayios Ioannis     area.

7.30p.m. Ariones Choir sing at Ayios Nikolaos area.

 

7.30p.m. Panikos Mavrellis Culture Centre, 71 Eirinis Str., 25341572

A lecture on the history of Limassol Carnival by the journalist Titos Kolotas. Screening of the documentary “Limassol Carnival” and the event will finish off with Limassol’s Serenaders.

“Tuesday’s Carnival Fiesta”

The Lemesos Municipality invites all young and adults to come in disguised costumes and participate in different carnival merrymaking with music and dancing.

Carnival Costume Competition – Awards for the best three.

7.00 p.m. Serenaders’ Evening Heroes’ Square

Serenaders’ Evening with the participation of the following groups: EDON Serenaders, Choir “Monterni Kairoi”, Group of Cypriot Serenaders and Giorgalletos Serenaders.

8.30p.m. Pattichion Municipal Theatre

The Cuban group Son Cubanos will be performing.

8.30 p.m. Outdoor Carnival Dancing Event

At the square east of the First Municipal Market

The Dreams Choir invites you for dancing and singing with the old and new top hits of the Greek repertoire.

 

The fiesta will carry on with the Cuban group Son Cubanos.

Serenades and Carnival Songs by Children’s Choirs: Armonia, B’ Elementary School Choir, ‘Epilogi’ Choir Workshop, ‘Epilogi’ – Limassol Co-operative Savings Bank as well as Youth Choir ‘Epilogi’.

 

Saturday

8 March

6.30p.m. Serenaders’ Parade

Group of Serenaders will gather at 6.00p.m. outside the Town Hall. At 6.30p.m. they will walk serenading in the town through the following streets: Arch. Kyprianou, Themidos, Anexartisias, ending at the District Office Square.

“Mousikes Periplanisis” and Georgia Protopapa’s Vocal Ensemble will be singing at the District Office Square from 5.00p.m.

Free wine will be offered by wine industries such as ETKO, KEO, LOEL and SODAP.

1.30p.m. Grand Carnival Parade

Archbishop Makarios III Avenue
Starting Point: Ayios Nikolaos Round About
Ending: Ayias Sofia’s Traffic Lights

Serenaders Parade to be followed by the Limassol Municipality Band, Majorettes of the Cyprus Girl Guide Association and the Grand Carnival parade with the King Carnival, floats, groups and individuals in the sound of a unified music. The parade will proceed along Makarios III Avenue up to Ayias Sofias Traffic Lights.

8.30p.m.  Farewell Carnival Fiesta - Medieval Castle Square

The Lemesos Municipality invites you all to the farewell dance of the carnival.

Fireworks start at 9.00p.m.
